About · the long-ish version

A few more paragraphs, if you have the time.

I grew up in Upper Austria, moved to Vienna for work, and somehow collected five trades along the way. This is the version of the "About" with the detours left in.

Where I come from

Big city, small circle, emough time. My first camera was a hand-me-down sony my mom gave me, because i wanted to be the one taking the pictures on vacations. That was when i was around 4 years old... and the pictures look alike.

What I actually do

At Weipert & Gil I'm the person who ends up holding the thread between content, design, social, and lately AI workflows. Officially: Apprentice for Junior Designer. Unofficially: the guy for everything that doesn't have a category yet.

On a normal week I'm designing a creative in the morning, writing a fitting caption before lunch, colour-grading a shoot after, and prompting something at night. The job title moves; the taste doesn't.

I like things that take taste to get right, and I like proving that taste can ship on a Friday.

Why generalist, not specialist

I tried, briefly, to pick one thing. I got bored by week three. The honest answer is that I like being the connective tissue. The person who can create the campaign, write the line, and build the page. Depth still matters; I just chase it in sprints rather than years.

The other honest answer is that the best work I've seen comes from people who can hold two crafts in their head at once. I want to be one of those people.

The camera thing

Nikon D5200, since 2018. It's old, heavy, and a bit stubborn. Three traits I trust in a camera. About 150k views on Pexels, which is mostly a reminder that volume ≠ quality. The photos I actually like live in a folder called maybe_later.

If you're ever in Vienna and want to hang out, I'm almost always up for it. Bring a flask, we'll walk.

On AI, briefly

I use it daily. It's a good thinking partner, a mid designer, and a surprisingly decent editor. The interesting work, to me, isn't using AI. It's designing the seam between the AI output and the human one. That's most of what I prompt for.

What I'm trying to get better at

Writing shorter. Saying no earlier. Sitting with a bad first idea long enough to find the good second one. Finishing personal projects. Accepting people with bad taste in music. Or worse - none at all.

If you got this far

Thanks, honestly. The short version lives on the home page; the rest of the site is mostly work and how to reach me. I reply to most things within a day.
